Ever since I was a child, I was very interested in reading, inspired by my mother. I have been missing my passion for last few years and this is the time to rediscover my Passion about reading. I read both Fiction and non-Fiction. In non-fiction space I am very interested in Human psychology. However I was buy last few years and got into the work, work, work culture. With my laptop pouring office emails, I have no time other than for responding to these mails.
I missed reading during these two years. I have decided to bring back my passion. In fact I have tried to do that for the last 3 months with no success. I loaded many of my favorite ebooks purchased from flipkart onto my laptop. But whenever I opened the book, pop comes an email - An urgent request for a proposal from my boss from US. Well he needs it before he leaves office in the evening which means an overnight task for me. My wife frowned at me staring at my laptop in the middle of the night. My children decided not to disturb me and went to sleep without uttering good night.
Well, this is not the life I planned for. I have to do something different to regain my passion and time to read 100's of ebooks that I am longing to read. At 2:30AM, I sent out the proposal to my boss and decided to close my laptop and lied down on the bed. Oops! Did I wake up my wife from her sleep. Feverishly I uttered a quick Sorry. But she smiled and as usual uttered I don't know how to manage my time. I hate these words and many times vented my anger on her when she said this. But today I am tired, not able to find time to read. I told her my short story. She listened to me patiently and then laughed. You should have told me earlier and I would have given a solution. I couldn't believe this. How can my wife give me a solution when I can find it myself for so many years? Little did I realize that solutions come from unexpected quarters.

Melbourne is a coastal city in the state of Victoria. I have heard a lot about Melbourne before I had a chance to visit Melbourne and that was more due to its cricket history. Besides Melbourne Cricket Ground, the next best attraction is the city centre with its spacious tree-lined streets and trams running along them. City Centre has a number of malls including Central shopping centre and underground railway station. Federation square is a well known landmark hosting the city's official visitor centre and a hotel. The street art is wonderful and I have never seen anything similar anywhere else. I enjoyed the ancient style buildings and cultural experiences. All these contribute to why I fell in love with Melbourne. It is definitely the most lively and livable city in the world.
Another favourite attraction is the eureka tower which is almost 300 meters skyscraper located on the southern banks of Yarra river and provides a 360 degree view of Melbourne's Central Business District. State Library of Victoria is the central library situated in Melbourne and I was awed by its architecture, front lawns, collections and the reading rooms.
You can watch Come Alive in Melbourne videos.
Reader Contest: Please Answer and you could win a prize.
Which of these places do you would you want to visit in Melbourne and Why?

When I started my career, decades ago, we were quite scared of deadlines. Two of my colleagues and I faced tight deadlines every alternate weeks. We were new to the software industry and literally every feature development took us lot of time to understand, research and code.
Whenever our lead used to ask us for status we will update him but withheld some issues that we were aware of from him. Technically we did not lie. But we made him feel that more work has been completed that actual.
We knew we had to make up and get the issues resolved before the deadline. We used to spend a night or part of weekend in office to complete the delivery. Our leader was very happy with us because we never let him down, until then at least.
We (the three musketeers, as they call us in our office) were onto a larger project. The best thing we liked in that project was that the first deliverable was at the end of the sixth week. We were in movie theaters during weekends instead of slogging it out at office. By the end of fourth week, I realized that we have a lot to catch up. At this rate, I was afraid we will not be able to complete our deliverable on-time.
My colleagues were scared of coming out clean at this stage. They were afraid the reaction from manager will be very bad if we reach out with the problem at this time. But I decided if we don't own up now, our manager will not have enough time to save the project and deliver on-time. So I decided to bite the bullet come what may and convinced my colleagues to go along with me.
We were literally scared while we waited to meet our manager. To our surprise he seemed to be very understanding. It was a long conversation and he went on talking. He was also like us 10 years back and he appreciated our courage to apprise him of the actual status of the project. He assured us that so long as he is aware that we needed a few extra hands to meet the deadline, he would always be willing to arrange for the same. He will ensure that he will increase the team by 2 more people for the next few weeks till we are out of danger. Then he went to explain his experience with his customers. Even if we are at fault, if he has the exact details, he will be able to manage his customers and talk to them accordingly. It was very enlightening for the three of us. We learnt a lot during those few hours and how we can help ourselves by just telling the exact truth and nothing but the truth. It is only when we try to bury the truth we get into trouble. My two colleagues were also very happy and thanked me for taking the courage to speak the truth.

Vacations help us to break the monotony of everyday life and is a breather for both parents and children alike. Previously vacations were so planned that one visited the grandmother's or aunt's. Children played indoor or outdoor games with their cousins. Children and adults shared a game of cards or carrom and shared the family gossip.
Nowadays the trend has changed a lot. With double incomes we are able to plan vacations to exotic places. I remember our trip to Walt Disney World. The rides on Dumbo the flying elephant was wonderful and all of us shrieked with joy. The swirling tea cups from "Alice in Wonderland" made our stomach tumult. Choo! Choo! the ride in Thomas the Tank Engine was rocky and fun. Our family watched the movie "lion King" the Walt Disney movie together and hummed our favourite songs " Hakuna Matata" and "can u feel the love tonight". The kids posed with Snow white, Mickey Mouse and seeing the expression on their faces made our hearts melt. So our time spent at Walt Disney World turned out to be a second childhood. This was a magical trip to Walt Disney World which we visited when the children were in primary school.
Now that my children are in their teens we spend a lot of quality time together during vacations. My daughter and I bake together. We bake cakes, cookies pizza and Lasagne together. We prefer to stay in holiday resorts as we get more space and able to enjoy family time together. All this helps us to have a lot of fun and bond together. We went on a planned holiday to Andaman where all of us as a family had fun together.
The activities we engaged ourselves in were trekking through dense evergreen forests and camping in beach front forests. By snorkelling off the Andaman and Nicobar islands we enjoyed the underwater marine life and viewed the rarest varieties of corals. The children also enjoyed Scuba diving where we see some fascinating marine life, colourful fishes, and corals. In all these activities we experience a spirit of adventure and the rush of adrenaline. In Andaman we experimented on some sushi. We did with so much anticipation and apprehension and enjoyed the novelty of the experience.
Newer experiences to enhance the personality is what our family tries to achieve during the holidays. My children got to theatre. The play was staged with my son having the leading role. Just watching him on the role and hearing the applause he received made me proud. Accolades and Applause and I felt a strange sense of fulfilment on being his mother.
Both my husband and I enjoy time with our Children. So when they enjoy their vacation, we enjoy ours too.

Fifty years back, arranged marriages were more the trend. The marriage was consummated on the first night and couples had sex after that.
With globalization and us aping the west we are now more open minded regards sex. In the last twenty years teenagers of the opposite sex interact more with each other. Coeducation schools and institutions have encouraged free interaction between students of opposite sexes.
Internet has made porn more accessible to the young. So there are incidents in which school going teenagers indulge in premarital sex. More love marriages are taking place. Dating and long engagement spells are not frowned upon. The Metti and Thali are losing their significance and the institution of marriage is weakening. Divorces are on the rise.
The traditional Indian women has become a feminist. When a man can loose his virginity before marriage why can't a woman? The younger generation today, always wants the best. What can one decide about a mate after a brief courtship? When homogamy and same sex marriages are being accepted, living together and premarital sex will not be a big issue. We have to accept and say Yes to pre-marital sex.
Younger generation wants to taste erotic pleasures without being confined to the bondage of marriage. However this is bound to raise issues like teen pregnancies.

When I received the mail from Indiblogger ... airbnb ... It didn't ring a bell and so I decided to check it out. I went to the site and there it was ... Is it a vacation rental site? Can I book in the site itself irrespective of which part of the world the rental is in? Looking at my interested look my husband quipped "may be it is similar to Priceline". OK, We have used priceline to book hotels while traveling. That is good enough if you are looking for a bed and a roof to spend the night. It can't beat the variety in Vacation rental offered by airbnb. Looking at the exotic options, may be sight seeing is not as important as the experience these stay options
As I looked through the site, the first thing that caught my attention was the Bywater - Hippie Bus! in New Orleans. Ever since I first saw mobile homes, I always wanted to live in one. I am not sure if it would be as convenient as a modern house but it is definitely worth living for 24 hours with family to experience the same.
Even as a Kid, I always loved to read about Tree houses and wondered what it will be like living in one. I also used to think it is safe until I saw monkeys on trees. I was really surprised to see Tree Houses in airbnb and "Fantastic treehut between old oaks" in Spain caught my eye. Atleast I want to spend one day with my family here to relive my childhood dream.
When I saw the Cottage on Private Island near Ottawa Canada, I was thrilled. Can I get my Robinson Crusoe experience for just Rs 10,000 a night? This was another of my Childhood dreams and I decided to add it to my wishlist. I wish these options were readily available 10 years ago when we were traveling more.
Even as a child, I always loved Greece though I can't understand Greek or Latin. Later in my life, I was amazed to see the Wind farms in California and was even more surprised that these can generate electricity. Living in a " Windmill by the sea in Tinos" in Greece is a perfect combination of my childhood and middle-age dreams coming together.
The first 4 were easy. I already dreamed of them in my life. I wanted to look for something that I never knew and never thought of in my life so far but still sounds interesting. I wasn't sure what airbnb would offer but decided to give a try. I came across Yurt which seemed a new word and wanted to google the same. Wow! It means the circular tents used by Nomads? I remember I have studied about Nomads but can't recollect reading about Yurts then. Interesting and I want to checkout some Yurts when I came across Nearest Yurt in world next to tube!. That's perfect (Nomad in London). This is my new dream.
Will I be able to experience all of these? Well Even if I can experience couple of these in this wishlist, I will be very happy. Time will tell.
